Design and Pricing

It is important to know that many cakes can be many many hours of work, and what may appear to you as the simplest cake ,will still be 5 to10 hours work over a period of several days, from start to finish.

I have been working in the cake decorating business for many years for myself and also for the famous Planet Cake in Sydney. Based on this experience, I know how important it is for your cake to not only look sharp and stylish but it must taste fantastic too. Each tier is cut into three layers. Each layer is filled with the finest couverture chocolate (white or dark) ganache. The cake is then completely covered in (white or dark) chocolate ganache, iced and decorated with fondant icing. Each tier is at least 10cms in height and has sharp straight edges. Not all cake decorators layer their cakes with ganache or offer 10cm high tiers as standard unless requested.

2D and 3D cakes are hand sculpted starting with a square cake. They are layered and covered the same as above with white or dark chocolate ganache. No moulds or specially shaped cake tins are used.

Cake size

The number of guests, cake type and portion size determine the size of the cake. Are you serving the cake as dessert or with coffee?

The size of the cake will have an influence on the cake design itself. If you are looking for a WOW factor, but you only have 30 guests, then you can still consider having a 4 Tier Wedding Cake, but incorporate artificial tiers into the design.

Pricing

• Single tier cake prices start at $200.00

• 3D and Novelty cakes start at around $350.00 and go upwards depending on the complexity of your design and portions required.

Consultations and Tasting

Discussions about your cake design are generally done over the phone or via email. During this discussion we can determine the need for a consultation. Note: All consultations are by appointment only.

For an especially personal cake, I incorporate your theme, the colours, textures, shapes and, of course, flavours that you like. When I design a cake for you, whether you chose a contemporary and stylish design, vintage or classic and elegant style, your cake will make your event even more fabulous.

So, when you come for a consultation, bring with you things that will help with the design of your cake: a piece of your dress fabric, bridesmaids dress fabric, an invitation or pictures of lace, stationery, etc.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Do you deliver cakes?

A: As our cakes are delicate and need to be handled with care, we do encourage you to collect your cakes from us to ensure their safety. If, however, this is not your preference, we can deliver within the Gold Coast, Gold Coast Hinterland, to Brisbane or the Tweed Coast. Delivery charges will apply.

Can my cake have fresh flowers on it?
A: Yes it can. You can either have your florist place the flowers or we would be happy to do it for you.

How long does a cake last?
A: Our cakes will last 5-7 days after your event if stored in an airtight container in the fridge.

Where should I store my cake?
A: Our cakes should be stored in a dark, cool (preferably air conditioned) room prior to cutting.

Can I store my cake in the fridge?

A: No, as doing so will make the cake perspire once removed from the fridge. However, any leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge.

How long before the event should I order my cake?
A: For wedding cakes we would prefer at least 8 weeks notice. For most other occasion cakes 2-4 weeks notice will generally be okay.

When do I pay for my cake?
A: For wedding cakes we require full payment of your cake 2 weeks prior to your event. A deposit of 50% is required to be paid on placement of your order.

What size cake do I need?
A: The size of your cake is determined by how many quests you are having and if you want to serve them with dessert or coffee portions. As a guide, a dessert portion is approximately 2.5 x5 x 9cm high. A coffee portion is half that size.
